Julie Sampson – (Voice In A Million’s Creative Assistant)
Julie Sampson (nee Ward) was born in Hull. Following her graduation from Sydney Smith Senior School she attended The Arts Educational Schools, London where she studied a 3 year Musical Theatre Course. From a young age Julie appeared in many musicals, namely Annie at The Victoria Palace Theatre in London playing the part of Duffy and with Tommy Trindor in Old Time Music Hall at the New Theatre, Hull.
Julie graduated from college in 1985 and appeared as a singer/dancer in Summer Season with Les Dennis in Scarborough, The Minstral Stars in Eastbourne and went onto West Ends’ Piccadilly Theatre in 1989 and played Futura in Metropolis with Brian Blessed, based on the 1927 silent movie directed by Fritz Lang. Julie went on to tour for 2 years with the successful musical 42nd Street, playing the part of Phyllis Dale and understudy to Peggy Sawyer, played by Bonnie Langford and also toured extensively with Tommy Steele in What A Show. She also performed as Maggie in Flora The Red Menace (by Kander & Ebb) directed by Sam Walters MBE at the famous Orange Tree Theatre on the round Richmond.
Julie has now settled back in her home town Hull and has 2 gorgeous sons, James and Ethan and is thrilled to be working with Jo Garofalo (best friend & Creative Producer for Voice In a Million) on this amazing project. Julie is adopted and has the most wonderful parents Mavis & Harry who without them would not be were she is today.
